* Head Designer, Private Label Sales

 

     As head designer at one of the world’s largest alternative clothing brands, I’ve been able to experience all aspects of leading a full design team and keeping up with the fast fashion world.  Working from an extensive range of line plans, I would design, present then execute first samples following through production.  With years of experience managing a full sample room as well design assistants, patternmakers, cutters, graphic artists , and tech designers, I have no problems multi tasking ! 

Sourcing both locally and internationally fabric /trims as well as working with both domestic and overseas factories to execute and deliver product on time.  

Attended all fittings, tradeshows, as well as handling corporate and private label sales.  Working with buyers from some of America’s largest retailers such as Hot Topic, Nasty Gal, Urban Outfitters, I would design and develop product for the mass markets and maintained a Sales on Order in the millions.  Travelled to China and have extensive relationships with all types of Factories and am awesome at negotiating all price and delivery details between the clients and the factory owners.

       Working from the designers hand sketch, I would first drape the concept and source fabric/trims for review. First through show samples would then be sewn and fit on models each season working towards show deadlines. Managing and guiding a team of interns each season sharpened my skills to delegate tasks.  Off season we would work on over the top creations with clients such as Bjork, Miss Piggy, Madonna and more…. Later years I would work mostly on costing/ managing production, with daily communication with the factories to purchasing bulk goods.
